Cosmetic Dentistry

When the Laser Dental Care Practice was founded more than 30 years ago, we were already very much focused on people’s smiles since many of our patients were either models or entertainers. Back then, we understood intuitively that a radiant smile usually meant a healthy smile, and for these folks it was essential for their careers. Now, several decades later, the data, as well as the new field of positivist psychology, support our early intuitions. Political stresses, employment uncertainties, all the features of life today that we take for granted, underscore the importance of caring for oneself. And we know so much more today about how important the health of your teeth and gums are to your overall health and wellbeing. More than simple biology, your fundamental confidence as a person derives so much from feeling free to smile, feeling relaxed enough to let those teeth and gums speak to the world.

So when we talk with patients about cosmetic work, we believe we are talking about helping them achieve much more than technical improvements to the shape or alignment or whiteness of their teeth. We know we’re talking about improving the face they present to the world. Increasingly, the tools we can use – porcelain veneers, whitening, bonding and cosmetic recontouring of teeth and gums – allow us to achieve stunning results.

Take porcelain veneers, for instance, one of our key tools. We now use lumineer-type porcelain laminates, which can be made as thin as contact lenses. Often this type of veneer requires only minimal preparation of the tooth—and thus little of the traditional need to grind down and shave the sensitive structure of the tooth. That means the end result is not a bulky, big-tooth look.

When we need to recontour or reshape gum lines, we are now able to use a diode laser. Because this new kind of laser is minimally invasive, it often allows us to avoid anesthesia (and needles) for this kind of gum work.

Our Smile Gallery, and the written testimonials and video testimonials on our site provide plenty of evidence for how transformative these procedures are for patients. Let us know if you’d like to explore the kind of cosmetic options that might be right for you.
