Lasers
As the name of our practice suggests, lasers are vital to the care we provide for both diagnosing and treating patients.
Dr. Alan Goldstein, who founded and leads the practice, is a founding member of the Academy of Laser Dentistry, the largest international organization devoted to clinical education, research and the development of standards and guidelines for the safe and effective use of laser technology worldwide. The Academy has chapters in Canada, Chile, Israel, Japan and the United Kingdom, and study clubs in Italy and Kazakhstan. Dr. Goldstein has served in all of the executive positions of this organization since its creation in 1991. He is the former editor of Wavelengths, the quarterly publication of the Academy; he also contributes to the publication Lasers in Dentistry. Dr. Goldstein was a principal investigator in a hard tissue (teeth) study for Continuum Biomedical that led to the FDA clearance for that laser.
Advanced technology is the standard of our practice. We utilize DIAGNOdent®, a sophisticated laser-enabled examination tool, to provide extremely reliable early detection of changes in teeth. Absolutely non-invasive and therefore painless, it is manufactured by KaVo, a 100-year-old, European company that is known for its sophisticated and high-tech imaging dental equipment.

Dr. Goldstein’s knowledge and opinions, free of commercial ties, have often been sought by the media and he has consulted with, and appeared on, major network television shows relating to lasers, including an appearance on The Phil Donahue Show in a feature on “Lasers in Medicine and Dentistry.” He is happy to respond to questions you may have about the use of lasers in dental care, either in an email or during your next visit.
